Bots
Connect a bot that you or your developer built to an inbox, so it takes the first messages, replies, then hands over to your team.
On this page
The Bots page is for businesses with their own system that should answer customers: a bot your developer wrote, or an outside service you work with. You add the bot here with a webhook URL, then assign it to an inbox. It receives that inbox's conversation events and can reply to them.
Note: if you want automatic replies with menus and buttons and no coding, use Flows instead.
Before you start
- Bots are managed by administrators.
- Get a webhook URL from your developer: an address on your server that receives the events, such as
https://example.com/webhook.
Add the bot
- In the inbox, open Settings, then Bots.
- Select Add Bot (1).
- Enter a Bot name, the name shown in conversations, and add a Bot avatar if you like.
- Under Description, say what the bot does.
- Paste the Webhook URL.
- Select Create Bot.
- The Access Token and the Webhook Secret appear. Copy both and hand them to your developer securely: the token lets the bot send its replies, and the secret lets your server check that events really came from Hadir Chat.
You can find the token and secret later by selecting Edit next to the bot, and generate a new token there if the old one leaks.
Assign the bot to an inbox
- Open Settings, then Inboxes, and select the settings button next to the inbox.
- Open the Bot configuration tab (1).
- Under Select an agent bot (2), pick your bot.
- Select Update (3). You see "Successfully updated the agent bot."
What happens next
- New conversations in this inbox start as Pending: the bot is handling them, so they stay out of your agents' list.
- When the bot decides the customer needs a person, it opens the conversation. It then appears to your team as Open and is assigned according to your assignment settings.
- Any agent can read what the customer and the bot said, in the same conversation.
Disconnect or delete the bot
- To stop it on one inbox: on the Bot configuration tab, select Disconnect bot. New conversations go straight to your team again.
- To remove it for good: on the Bots page, select Delete, then Yes, Delete.
