Import and export
Bring your customers in from a CSV file, and export contacts, deals or conversations as a file you can open in Excel.
On this page
Bring your customers into Hadir Chat from a file instead of typing them in one by one, and take your data out whenever you like. There are two places: the Contacts page, to import and export contacts, and Import/Export in Settings, to export the rest of your data and to move it over from another support tool.
Import contacts from a file
You need to be an Administrator, or have a role with "Manage contacts".
- Open Contacts, select the more button (three dots) at the top of the page, then Import contacts.
- Select Download a sample csv. (1) to get a file with the right columns.
- Fill it in:
name,email,phone_number,company_nameandlabels. Write mobile numbers in international format with a +, such as+9665…. Delete the sample's columns you do not need. - Save the file as CSV, then select Choose file (2) and pick it.
- Select Import (3).
The import runs in the background, and the workspace administrators get an email when it is complete.
Note: if a customer already exists with the same email or mobile, their details are updated rather than duplicated. Labels in the labels column must already exist in Settings; otherwise the row is rejected, and you get a file of the rejected rows with the reason for each.
Export contacts
- In Contacts, open the list, segment or label you want to export. What the page shows, with its current filter, is what gets exported.
- From the more button, select Export contacts, then Export.
- You get an email with a link to the file when it is ready.
Export the rest of your data
From Import/Export you take your workspace's data out as a CSV. The page is for administrators, and available if your plan includes it.
- Open Settings, then Import/Export, then the Export tab (1).
- Select New export (2).
- Under Data, choose what you want: Contacts, Companies, Conversations, Deals, Tasks or Appointments. Only what your plan includes is listed.
- Set From and To, or leave both empty to export everything.
- Select Start the export.
The export appears in the table with its status: Queued, then Building, then Ready. When it is ready its link is emailed to you, and you can select Download in the table. The file stays available for the number of days the page states, then it is deleted and shows as Expired.
Move your data from another support tool
If you use Intercom or Freshdesk, you can bring over its contacts and past conversations:
- In Import/Export, open the Import tab and select Import.
- Choose the Source, enter an Import name, and paste the access key from that tool (and your Freshdesk domain, if you chose it).
- Under Data to import, tick Contacts, Conversations or both, then select Import.
Follow its progress under Recent imports, and review the Errors and Skip logs once it finishes. Only one import can run at a time.
