Connect Instagram

Connect your store's Instagram account so direct messages reach the inbox and your team answers them in one place.

On this page

Many customers ask about a product in an Instagram direct message. Once you connect your account to Hadir Chat, those messages arrive in the inbox next to WhatsApp and website chat, and your team answers them without sharing the account's password.

Before you start

  • You need to be an Administrator in Hadir Chat.
  • Your Instagram account must be a professional account (Business or Creator), and you need its username and password.
  • In the Instagram app, allow connected tools to access your messages, in the account's message settings. Otherwise no messages arrive.

Connect the account

  1. In the inbox, open Settings, then Inboxes, and select Add Inbox.
  2. Choose Instagram (1).
  1. You see Connect your Instagram Profile. Select Continue with Instagram (1).
  2. Instagram's sign-in page opens. Sign in with the account you want to connect and accept the permissions it shows.
  3. You come back to Hadir Chat automatically. Pick the agents who answer Instagram messages, then select Add agents.
  4. You see Your Inbox is ready!. Select Take me there to open the channel's conversations.

The channel takes your Instagram account's name. To test it, send a direct message to your account from another account; it appears in the inbox under the new channel.

Replying within 24 hours

Meta lets a business reply to an Instagram message within 24 hours of the customer's last message. After that, you cannot send a reply in the conversation until the customer writes again. So keep Instagram messages high on your team's list, and use business hours so customers know when you reply.

Note: if a yellow notice says that Instagram inbox creation is temporarily unavailable due to an issue on Meta's side, the problem is with Meta, not your account. Select View status updates to follow it, and try again once it is resolved.

If the connection drops

If you change your Instagram password or remove Hadir Chat's access in your account settings, messages may stop arriving, and the channel's settings show a notice that it is disconnected. Select Click here to reconnect. in the notice and sign in to Instagram again; messages return to the same channel without creating a new one.

If you connect the same account a second time, its messages move to the new channel and the old one can no longer send or receive them. Delete the old channel if you no longer need it.
